NHL & NHLPA Reach Tentative Deal on Lock Out

By on January 7, 2013 in ,

While no deal has been signed it would appear that a verbal agreement to end the months long NHL Lock Out has been reached.  The exact details of the deal are not fully know but highlights include: 10 year deal (opt out for both after 8 years), $60 million salary cap, and no change to the July 1 free agency opening.

As for seeing NHL action this year, both sides are working out a 48 or 50 game schedule that will likely start on January 15th or January 19th.  No timeline has been set for final ratification of this deal but many expect a complete resolution this week.
