Rookie Mark Sanchez produced a near perfect 139.4 QB rating on his way to leading the New York Jets past the AFC North Division champion Cincinnati Bengals 24-14 Saturday at Paul Brown Stadium. The 23-year old showed a great amount of poise in his post-season debut following New York’s rollercoaster-like season. “I see him getting better and better each day on the practice field,” said Jets head coach Rex Ryan. “What a job he’s done. I think he’s tired of hearing he’s the weak link on this football team.”
Cincinnati posted the initial points with a Carson Palmer Laveranues Coles connection eight minutes into the first quarter. Shonn Green broke free for 39 yards early in the second to tie it up at seven apiece. Sanchez produced the go-ahead score minutes later with a 45 yard pass to Dustin Keller.
The second half featured a TD from each squad before Jay Feely increased the deficit to 10 with a 20 yard field goal with five minutes to play. The Jets will next matchup with the San Diego Chargers in the AFC Divisional Round on Sunday, January 17th at 4:40 PM. Chargers vs. Jets tickets can be found right here with us at Ace!
