Jets Stun Chargers

The New York Jets scored two fourth quarter TD’s to win over the heavily favored San Diego Chargers 17-14 Sunday at Qualcomm Stadium, setting them up for the AFC title game against the 15-2 Indianapolis Colts. Head coach Rex Ryan can now stand by his original (what most would have considered overconfident) statements, courtesy of San Diego kicker Nate Kaeding for failing to hit any of his three game field goal attempts.

“We believed the whole time, the whole year, when it probably wasn’t the popular choice,” said Ryan. “We don’t have to apologize to anyone. A matchup that probably nobody wanted, but too bad. Here we come!”

Yesterday’s contest opened with the Chargers in control with a Philip Rivers-Kris Wilson connection for six three minutes into the second quarter. The Jets took over from there in the remaining two blocks, producing a field goal and a pair of touchdowns. Rivers was able to lead his men down field for one more score to make it a three point game. The Jets then came up with the onside kick to eventually solidify the victory.
