Montreal Canadiens 2008 Mid-Season Report

By on January 20, 2008 in

Recap: The Montreal Canadiens did not play the best hockey they are capable of playing in the first half of the NHL season, but still they find themselves in a great spot for the playoff hunt. Right winger, Alex Kovalev led the Canadiens offensive attack scoring a team high of 20 goals, with 23 assists. Known for their team oriented style of play, the 2007-2008 Canadiens had 14 players with over 10 pts during the first 47 games of the season. Goaltender Cristobal Huet played well in net with a .924 save percentage, good for 4th best in the league.
2nd Half: Experience will play a key role for this team’s success down the stretch run. Over two thirds of the team was on last year’s roster and it doesn’t hurt that the franchise has won 24 Stanley Cup titles and knows how to win when it counts. Watch for them to move up in the conference standings over the next month.
