Phoenix Coyotes 2008 Mid-Season Recap

By on January 24, 2008 in

Recap – Most NHL teams struggle on the road, but the Phoenix Coyotes don’t have any such problem with 15 wins away from home. Their problem is winning in front of the home town crowd. This is an unusual, yet fixable problem, but something that will probably keep them from making the playoffs. On both sides of the ice, the Coyotes do not have any real standout players that give other teams trouble. Through 48 games, they have allowed 131 goals, and scored 131 goals. Everything about this team is just average and its tough to think of them as a threat when their leading scorer, Radim Vrbata, only had 18 goals.

2nd Half – The Coyotes need to really put some magic together if they want any chance to snag the 8th seed in the Western Conference playoffs. Goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov is talented but is seeing way too many shots a game. His defensemen need to pick up their games and limit opponents to less offensive opportunities.

Team Name: Phoenix Coyotes (25-21-2)

Pacific Division Standing: 4th place

Conference Standing: 11th place

Final Predictions – 4th in Pacific Conference, 11th in Western Conference
