Thrash metals “Big 4” Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax will share a stage in the U.S. for the first time ever on Saturday, April 23rd at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA. The venue will play host to the annual three-day Coachella Music Festival just one week before. An announcement video on YouTube stated that the Empire Polo Club will be their only U.S. appearance all together. Metallica’s official website noted that the bands were just limiting themselves to a single concert “this go around.”
The Big 4 previously showcased their talents together in a two-week European tour in June of 2010. The short run spawned the release of “The Big Four: Live From Sofia, Bulgaria.” The Live DVD debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard “Top Music Videos” chart in November with first-week sales of 22,000 copies. Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich informed the The Pulse of Radio that “it’s the first time basically in 25 years or 30 or whatever that the four of us have actually played shows together. It was a lot of fun, a lot of memories, a lot of fun times.” Check for more Big 4 Festival updates with us at Ace!
