Sebastian Vollmer to Suit Up Sunday for Patriots

Patriots offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia announced earlier today that veteran OT Sebastian Vollmer will play in Super Bowl XLVI. “He’ll play. He’ll play in this game at some point, whether we have Nate Solder outside or him at tackle,” said Scarnecchia in a recent interview with “He’s going to be out there, and thank God we’ve got him.”

Vollmer was active for just six games this season, which includes New England’s 24-20 Week 9 loss to the Giants on November 6th. He will either start this Sunday or come in as a third tackle when the Patriots shift Solder to tight end.

“Sebastian has gotten a lot better here over the last few weeks,” said Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. “He practiced Monday, so we’ll see how the week goes and see how he holds up, but I think there is definitely a possibility. We’ll just have to see how he tolerates the added work and if he does well, I think you’ll see him.

Rookie Nate Solder was New England’s first-round draft choice and filled in at right tackle for 144 snaps in total. The Patriots are going to need all the help they can get with a proven Giants defensive front ready to pounce. View all Super Bowl XLVI ticket options here at Ace!
