It seems as though Amar’e Stoudemire is set to stay with the Phoenix Suns for the remainder of the 2010 regular season. The official NBA trade deadline is 3:00 PM this afternoon. The All-Star center’s agent Happy Walters told ESPN‘s Chad Ford that “the better (Stoudemire) played over the last couple of weeks, the more emboldened the team got with trades. Anything can happen, but it seems unlikely.”
The Cleveland Cavaliers were the leading option for Amar’e until just recently trading for Wizards forward Antawn Jamison. The Heat have also been involved in trade talks, but at this point a move to Miami seems doubtful. So far this season Stoudemire is averaging 21 points and nine rebounds per game. The Suns just lost to the Dallas Mavericks 107-97 yesterday at the American Airlines Center. They’ll look to turn things around against the Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings this upcoming weekend.
