Milan Lucic posted the initial goal 59 seconds into the first period and delivered again in the final seconds of regulation to lift his Boston Bruins past the Calgary Flames 3-1 last night at Scotiabank Saddledome. Brad Marchand notched the second goal of the contest 5:55 into the third block following 39 minutes of scoreless action. Curtis Glencross then found the net on a power play for Calgary’s lone score, setting the stage for Lucic to solidify the W on empty net.
Tim Thomas collected 28 saves after receiving a two-game break from Bruins coach Claude Julien. “That whole week was good for him. Tuukka was able to win us a couple games in that span,” said Julien. “It’s great to see. We’re hoping that we can utilize both of them from here on in so we’re in a position to have some fresh goaltenders heading into the postseason.” The Bruins will continue their road trip to Ottawa, Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh before they return to Boston to host the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday, March 3rd.
