This Week in Boston 2/24-3/2

This upcoming weekend will be one of the busiest and most exciting as Boston prepares to head into springtime. If you get a break from shoveling the snow in your driveway check out some of these events.

The Boston Bruins return home after a 16 day road trip to play the Ottawa Senators February 28th at the TD Garden. The teams are currently tied for fourth place in the Eastern Conference and in this year’s shortened season every game counts. Check out Bruins’ scoring leaders Brad Marchand and ┬áDavid Krejci take on the Daniel Alfredsson and Craig Anderson, the leagues best goaltender, of the Ottawa Senators in the showdown between division rivals at 7pm on Thursday.

Bob Saget, who was made famous by starring in family family roles as Danny Tanner on Full House and the host of the weekly America’s Funniest Videos, has a tremendously vulgar stand-up act…and it’s hilarious. The 56 year-old stand up comedian will be coming to Boston’s Wilbur Theatre on Friday March 1st. Don’t miss this adult oriented event which starts at 7:30.

In one of America’s most beloved musicals, Jersey Boys, highlights the formation, rise to fame, and eventual break up of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The Tony Award winning show started on Broadway is now doing a nationwide tour and here is your chance to see it. The show features music from Four Seasons member Bob Gaudio. Jersey Boys will be performed at Citi Emerson Colonial Theatre and will begin at 8pm.

The Celtics return home after their own absence from the TD Garden. Gang Green will be taking on the Golden State Warriors Friday at 7:30 pm following their west coast road trip. The Celtics, who at one point had won eight of nine games in Rondo’s absence, are looking to rebound after struggling in four straight games following the All-Star break. Don’t miss Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett in their homecoming game before the team plays four of their next five on the road.

In a weekend double header that features two collegiate teams battling for an edge in Hockey East, the Boston University Terriers and the Vermont Catamounts will play Friday March 1st and Saturday March 2nd at Agganis Arena. BU’s Wade Megan, a 2009 draft pick by the Florida Panthers, will be in a battle with Vermont defensemen Nick Bruneteau a week after the Catamount played in his 100th career game last weekend. See these future NHL stars battle on Commonwealth Avenue this weekend.

What started in 1993 as a local cable television program, Phantom Gourmet has grown into a recognizable feature in Boston’s food and beverage industry. This Saturday the good people at Phantom Gourmet will be putting on two sessions of their Wine and Food Phest. Tickets include 42 different types of wine from all over the world and tons of food to compliment. Sessions will be from 3-6pm and 7-10pm. Don’t miss out on this 21+ event (IDs will be checked at the door).
