Kevin Garnett came through with 28 points and 11 rebounds to lead his Celtics past the Phoenix Suns 115-103 yesterday at Boston’s TD Garden. KG and crew were certainly extra motivated after scoring just 71 points in a road loss to Phoenix one month prior. The C’s have now won three straight and were able to snap the Sun’s four-game winning streak in the process.
Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo each contributed 16 points while producing game high numbers in different categories (Rondo had 15 assists and Pierce pulled down 16 boards). Newcomer Nenad Krstic had 13 points from 4-of-6 shooting. Glen Davis scored 14 during his 26 minutes on the floor before straining his left knee at the end of the fourth block. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI this afternoon to determine the severity of the injury.
“We’re back to that injury bug and trying to maneuver around it,” said Garnett. “Unfortunately, Baby’s going to be out. We haven’t got a lot of time left, but hopefully he’s better than the norm and he’s not out for too long — or he’s not out period. Baby’s a trooper, he’s been playing hurt throughout this whole year and some of last year.” The Celtics are next set to host the Golden State Warriors tomorrow night at 7:30 PM.
