Dwayne Wade came up with the steal to set up LeBron James on the other end for a dunk to put the Miami Heat up two in the closing minutes of their 94-88 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers yesterday at AmericanAirlines Arena. Wade scored eight of his 20 points in the fourth quarter and James finished with 19 points, ending their five-game skid while putting a stop to LA’s eight-game win streak.
The Heat have recently struggled in close-game situations but this time found a way to win over the 2x defending champions for the second time this season. “We didn’t want to run away from this,” said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra. “We didn’t want to hide from any of this. We want to get better. We want to make sure our game is right and ready when it really counts.” Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 24 points and Pau Gasol followed up with 20. Miami is scheduled to host the Memphis Grizzlies this Saturday as the Lakers travel to Dallas to matchup with the Mavericks.
