Jeff Green scored 13 of his 19 total points during a second quarter run en route to a 92-80 Boston Celtics victory over the Indiana Pacers last night at TD Garden. The C’s found themselves down 17-9 before Green went to work, setting up the starters to make a 15-2 run of their own late in the second to open a 13-point lead. Delonte West controlled the tempo for the reserves during his 17 minutes on the floor with three assists, two points and two rebounds.
“The addition of Delonte really gave them some real good vibes,” captain Paul Pierce said after the game. “That unit, they are coming together. When Shaquille (O’Neal) gets back, that’s going to bolster our second unit, also.” O’Neal is currently recovering from right foot injuries that have sidelined him since February 1st. Celtics coach Doc Rivers has no clear estimation on a potential return, saying “Shaq shot today and felt pretty good. Hopefully, I don’t even know what the time frame is, but the fact that he’s on the floor, means sooner than later.”
Pierce led the Celtics in scoring with 20 points while dishing out five assists. Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Nenad Krstic also finished in double figures for Boston. The C’s are next set to hit the road for three games starting Saturday, March 19th against the New Orleans Hornets. Boston Celtics tickets are now available!
