19-year veteran center Shaquille O’Neal will travel with the Boston Celtics on their upcoming three-game road trip this weekend to Houston, New Orleans and New York. “I think about a week ago we re-evaluated and readjusted,” said Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge. “He came back a couple of weeks ago with the hopes of playing by now, but I think there was a little bit of a setback. He’s with the team on the trip just to get some shootarounds and some practice time in, but it’s just day to day. He still feels a little bit of discomfort there…He’ll be fine, it’s just a matter of when.”
Jermaine O’Neal is also working towards a full recovery since undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in February. Both O’Neals will expect to return within the next couple of weeks as the Celtics look to balance the rotation before their playoff push. They are currently a half-game behind the Chicago Bulls at 48-18 with 16 games left on the regular season schedule.
