The Boston Celtics snapped a four-game losing streak against the lowly Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday night, and now will look to go on a little run with just 12 games separating them from the playoffs. They return to action Monday night at the TD Garden when they host the Orlando Magic.
At 2-5 in their last seven games, the Celtics have fallen to fifth in the Eastern Conference standings at 40-30, but a win on Monday over the Magic paired with a Hawks loss to the Wizards would move them into a tie for third place. Despite Orlando’s 29-40 record that will almost certainly land them an early off-season, the team still owns the head-to-head record on the season, taking two of three from the C’s on the season. The home team has won every matchup this season between the two sides, which bodes well for Boston in their final meeting of 2015-16.
The injury bug has finally bitten the Celtics over the last few weeks, but the team will at least get one player back from injury tonight, as forward Jonas Jerebko (ankle/Achilles) is expected to return to the lineup after missing the last three games. Meanwhile, starting small forward Jae Crowder is expected to miss at least another week with his ankle injury that has already sidelined him for four games.
