Bruins Blank Thrashers, Extend Lead

Tuukka Rask came up with 27 saves while holding the Atlanta Thrashers scoreless for the second time this season as the Boston Bruins went on to net four goals last night at Philips Arena. The Bruins are now three points ahead of Atlanta and within one point of reaching the Montreal Canadiens and Philadelphia Flyers in the league standings.

“There should be no looking back from here. These last 10 games, destiny is in our hands. We want to finish it,” said Milan Lucic. “A 3-0 lead is a lot better than 2-0. When you’re able to score like that late in the period, it gives you a lot of momentum going into the intermission. We had a great feeling going to the third period.”

Lucic provided the second goal for Boston following David Krejci’s score 9:25 into the first block. Miroslav Satan notched the next goal for the B’s just before the end of the second. Steve Begin tacked on the insurance early in the third for Boston to coast from there. The Bruins are scheduled to host a string of home games starting Thursday at 7:00 PM against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
