Rajon Rondo controlled the tempo with a triple-double as Paul Pierce netted 27 points to lead the Boston Celtics past the Denver Nuggets 113-99 yesterday at the TD Garden. The C’s have now won 6 of their last 8 thanks to Pierce’s elevated play, as he’s produced an average of 25 in his last five games. “We have been able to get the job done on the road,” said Pierce. “But this is where we eat. This is where we set our table.”
Boston solidified their postseason position with the recent victory. They will be challenged at home against Sacramento, San Antonio, Oklahoma City, Houston and Cleveland this week. Rajon Rondo believes his squad is healthy and prepared for the upcoming stretch in Boston, saying “whether it’s home or away, I think it’s time to get momentum.”
Last night’s contest showcased a complete team effort with five different Celtics in double figures. Behind Pierce and Rondo were Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen contributing for a combined 36 points. Tony Allen stepped up for 13 points, shooting 5-of-6 from the field in his 20 minutes on the court. The Celts are certainly revamped and ready for another run at the title.
