Boston Celtics center Jermaine O’Neal joined the team yesterday leading up to their tough 107-100 road loss to the Indiana Pacers at Conseco Fieldhouse. The 14-year veteran big man has been limited to 17 games this season due to his troubled left knee. He has been working towards a full recovery in time for the playoffs since undergoing arthroscopic surgery back in February. O’Neal will practice with the team on Wednesday with hopes to see game-action by early next week.
“His job is the same as when he left,” said Boston coach Doc Rivers. “He knew his defensive role. But you know what was unfortunate for him? I really thought that right before he went down, he was really not only buying into it, but he was doing it. He finally understood what we needed of him, I thought he bought into it and was getting what to do. He was really doing a great job of it, and then he got injured.” The Celts will next travel to San Antonio and Atlanta before returning home to host the Detroit Pistons Sunday, April 3rd. Boston Celtics tickets are now available!
