The Boston Red Sox are scheduled host the New York Yankees tonight at 7:10 PM to conclude their 2010 opening home stand at Fenway Park. Former LA Angels ace John Lackey is preparing to take the hill for the first time in Red Sox uniform with hopes to give his new squad the initial 2-1 advantage over their longtime rivals. The 31 year-old produced 139 strikeouts last season while holding a 3.83 ERA. Lackey and the Boston front office were able to agree on a five-year contract worth $82.5 million. So far during his time with the Sox he’s already built strong relationships co-pitchers Josh Beckett and Jon Lester.
“Honestly, we haven’t talked much about the battles we used to have,” said Lackey of Beckett and Lester. “They are great guys and we’ve played some golf and hung out off the field. It’s been cool. I think there’s a lot of similarities between the three of us that have made it easy for us to fit in as teammates.”
15-year veteran Andy Pettitte will make his 2010 debut for the Yanks tonight. Pettitte played a key role to the success of the World Champion Yankees in 2009. Both Red Sox and Yankees are eager to claim victory tonight after splitting in their first two meetings. New York shifted the momentum yesterday after breaking the tie in the eighth inning to pull out the 6-4 W. Boston Red Sox tickets are now available all season long right here at AceTicket.com!
