The Boston Celtics were content in holding the #3 seed in the Eastern Conference in light of head coach Doc Rivers resting his starters in yesterday’s 95-94 overtime loss to the Washington Wizards last night at the Verizon Center. “I usually don’t seek out – it comes from me all the time – but this was one where I asked a lot of questions to some players, all our coaches, to Danny, so this was a tough one, but this was the right one,” said Rivers after the game. “At the end of the day for us, it’s got to be right for our team and whatever is best for our team, even over seeding.”
The C’s are now lined up to battle the sixth-seeded New York Knicks in the opening round of the 2011 post-season. The two teams will meet for their final regular season contest at the TD Garden this Wednesday. Boston is 3-0 against the Knicks this year, defeating them once at home and twice on the road. Game 1 is scheduled for Sunday, April 17th with Game 2 set for the following Tuesday. Celtics vs. Knicks playoff tickets are now available!
