Celtics Come Up Short In Game 1 At Home

By on April 18, 2009 in ,

The Boston Celtics headed into today’s Round 1, Game 1 Playoff game against the Chicago Bulls without the services of their emotional and defensive leader, Kevin Garnett.  The result was not what the Celtics wanted.  Ray Allen and Paul Pierce struggled and Rajon Rondo’s strong effort wasn’t enough to stop the Bulls in a 105-103 OT loss at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston.  Garnett watched from the bench for the 1st half but ever the fierce competitor KG couldn’t stay for the 2nd half without being able to help.

The game was mostly a battle of point guards as Boston’s Rajon Rondo had 29 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and Chicago’s Derrick Rose had 36 points in his playoff debut.   Pierce added 23 points for the Celtics but Ray Allen had a terrible shooting day going 1-12 and missing a big shot in OT.

The Celtics will be back in action on Monday with a chance to even up the series. Boston Celtics playoff tickets are available for all games.
