Derrick Rose dropped 31 points while dishing out seven assists as the Chicago Bulls went on to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers yesterday at the United Center. Kirk Hinrich and Luol Deng contributed 27 and 20 while center Joakim Noah controlled the paint with 10 points and 15 rebounds. This marks Chicago’s first win over the Cavs in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal round. “We stayed strong,” said Noah. “D-Rose played huge for us. It just feels really good to come out with a win right now.”
LeBron James produced 13 of his 39 points down the stretch in the fourth quarter despite coming up short in the end. The Bulls were able to capture the momentum through the first block with the initial 32-21 lead. Cleveland went on a run in the final minutes but there simply wasn’t enough time to stage a complete comeback. “I believe we’re going to be fine,” said Anderson Varejao. “We just have to play the way we did in the second half.” Next game is scheduled for Sunday at 3:30 PM.
