Yankees Win with Cabrera Walk-off

Melky Cabrera belted two homers for the Yankees, including the deciding home run in the bottom of the 14th to win over the Oakland A’s 9-7 last night at the new Yankee stadium. Cabrera has been playing well lately for the Yanks and hopes this will keep his confidence going. “I knew it was gone and I knew that we won,” said Cabrera. “I was just trying to get on base and make good contact. I’ve worked really hard to get to where I am right now.”

The Yankees bullpen were the real heroes of the night, pitching 7 1/3 innings with out allowing any runs.  C.C. Sabathia struggled from the mound allowing seven runs in 6 2/3 innings.  New York was able to get enough run production to tie it up as Jose Veras relieved Sabathia with three scoreless innings.  “I feel real happy,” Veras said. “I let my team down the first game of the season here at Yankee Stadium, and I knew I had to do something good for my team to pick up the bad. I feel really good today.”

The Yankees will next make their way to the legendary Fenway Park to square off against the Boston Red Sox for three weekend games in a row.  Tickets for the New York Yankees are now available.
