Paul Pierce was on the court for 44 minutes and racked up 36 points and 14 rebounds during Boston’s 87-80 Game 2 victory over the Atlanta Hawks last night at Philips Arena. The Celtics captain lifted his team when they needed him most with Rajon Rondo suspended and Ray Allen sidelined with an ankle injury.

“I have a lot of experience, a lot of confidence from being in those moments,” said Pierce after outscoring the Hawks himself in the fourth quarter. “You believe in yourself, your coach believes in you, your team believes in you, it’s a combination of all those things.”

Kevin Garnett also logged heavy minutes for Boston, contributing 15 points and 12 rebounds. Avery Bradley was great defensively and chipped in with 14 points and three assists on the other end of the floor. Joe Johnson led Atlanta in scoring with 22 points. The C’s are currently on their way back to Boston to prepare for Games 3 and 4 Friday, May 4th and Sunday, May 6th. Purchase your Celtics vs Hawks playoff tickets here at Ace!
