Lucic Nets Bruins 2-0 Advantage

Milan Lucic supplied the go-ahead goal with 3 minutes left in regulation for the Boston Bruins to win 3-2 over the Philadelphia Flyers last night at the TD Garden. The Bruins certainly capitalized at home, now holding theĀ 2-0 series lead looking ahead to their next two games starting Wednesday in Philadelphia. Lucic’s turnaround slap shot in the third block marked his first goal this postseason. “I was trying to block the defense out and wheel and shoot,” said Lucic. “Luckily, it found a hole. It was more a relief than anything else. Especially when it’s a game-winner like that.”

Johnny Boychuk opened the festivities for Boston with a goal 5:12 into the first period. Mike Richards then retaliated for the Flyers before Miroslav Satan helped the B’s regain control midway through the second. Danny Briere scored in the final minute, eventually setting the stage for Lucic in the end. Tuukka Rask stopped 24 shots-on-goal to earn a .923 save percentage.
