Red Sox Revamp, Rally Past Yanks

The Boston Red Sox rallied for four runs in the eighth inning and two in the ninth to defeat the New York Yankees 7-6 yesterday in the Bronx. JD Drew kicked off the late offensive run with a double to deep left to advance Dustin Pedroia and score Marco Scutaro. Pedroia and Drew then finished their trip around the bases courtesy of Kevin Youkilis making contact for a single. David Ortiz sent Youk home with a double, where he proceeded to get thrown out at second to conclude the pivotal eighth inning surge.

After recording the loss in Monday night’s contest at Yankee Stadium, closer Jonathon Papelbon allowed just one run before shutting the door to solidify the W. “I was hoping all night long I would get another chance,” said Papelbon. “It’s a heavyweight fight. They might get one good blow in but they’re not going to knock me down.” The 20-20 Sox will attempt to further build their momentum at home for two games against the Minnesota Twins starting tonight at 7:10 PM. Boston Red Sox tickets are now available!
