Following the release of her sixth studio album, Shakira announced global Tour de las Delicias, kicking off in the US and taking place from September to December. It was initially announced that Shakira would release a Spanish album late 2010 after the release of She Wolf, similar to what she did with Oral Fixation Volumes 1 & 2, but Shakira later stated that the album will now be a bilingual project, which will contain Spanish, English, and Latin songs. The record was released in November 2009, and has several follow-up singles that ought to be giving “She Wolf” a run for its money very soon.
In March 2010, Shakira was awarded for her humanitarian efforts with a medal by the United Nations’ International Labor Organization in recognition of being a “true ambassador for children and young people, for quality education and social justice.” Shakira also played a big role in helping with the Haiti rescue relief.
The “She Wolf” herself will be playing at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT September 17th. After performing at the World Cup Kick-Off Celebration in South Africa (specifically the track “Wakka Wakka (This Time for Africa)”) and the Glastonbury festival in the UK next week, Shakira will be ready to take America by the reigns this fall. Her tour will feature performances at amphitheaters and arenas, with more than half of her dates taking place in Texas and California alone.
