Boston Events This Weekend (June 24-27)

If you re looking for something to do this weekend, you’re in luck! The city is bursting with shows and entertainment. On Saturday, there’s something for everyone with stellar concerts at most of the city s venues. The Capitol Steps perform at the Wilbur Theatre. In the past 30 years, the political satire group has released approximately as many albums. Their routine consists largely of parodies of well known songs as well as skits about current politics and scandals. The show is at 7 PM, and tickets start at $99.
At Agganis Arena, Chayanne will play on Saturday. The Latin Pop Singer has been performing since the late 1970s, when he was part of a group called Los Chicos. After the band separated in 1984, he became a solo artist. He has since been nominated for numerous awards and also established himself as an actor. His most recent album, No Hay Imposibles, was released in February. A few floor seats are still available for the show, starting at $145.
Also on Saturday, the legendary Cyndi Lauper is in town, performing at the House of Blues. Since 1983, Lauper has been turning out hits including  Girls Just Want to Have Fun and  Time After Time.  She has been nominated for approximately a dozen Gammy Awards, winning two. She has also appeared in numerous films and TV shows, including the most recent season of The Celebrity Apprentice. She is currently performing in support of her most recent album, Memphis Blues. General admission tickets are available for $75.
If you don t feel like being in the city on Saturday, you can check out A Prairie Home Companion with Gerrison Keillor at the Tanglewood Shed. The radio show will be doing a live broadcast of this performance. These broadcasts have been on the air since 1974, and usually originate from Saint Paul, Minnesota. Don t miss your chance to witness the show while it s on the road. Select tickets are still available starting at $75   If you’re hungry this weekend, you’ll be happy to find The Phantom Gourmet BBQ Beach Party at Suffolk Downs. In addition to barbecue offerings by chefs hailing from as far away as Australia, there will be a Ferris wheel, horse races, games, and more! Admittance on Friday, 6/25 is free. On Saturday, 6/26, and Sunday, 6/27, tickets cost just $5 and are buy one, get one free!
On Sunday, the action is in Worcester as the WWE takes over the DCU Center. The SmackDown World Tour will give you the chance to see your favorite wrestling superstars. The main event is the World Heavyweight Championship Match featuring Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Swagger. Tickets start at $30. In addition, there is a New England Revolution game on Sunday.  While everybody has soccer on the brain, our team will take on the Chicago Fire at Gillette. Mid-field seats are available starting at $30.
