Alex Rodriguez belted a Robinson Tejada 0-2 fastball over the wall in right-center to notch his 599th career home run, contributing to the New York Yankees 10-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals Thursday at Yankee Stadium. A-Rod finished with three hits and four RBI’s on the night courtesy of the two-run blast that leaves him one shy of becoming the seventh major leaguer to hit 600. The 13X All-Star doesn’t feel the pressure in regards to the milestone, saying “nothing’s as exciting as what happened last November. Now I have a different perspective on things.”
The Yankees lineup featured four players with multiple hits between Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira, Derek Jeter and Nick Swisher. A-Rod had his chance at 600 in the eighth when he doubled to deep right to bring in Teixeira. Yankees Ace CC Sabathia let up 11 scattered hits and four runs through six innings of work. Relievers David Robinson, Joba Chamberlain and Chan Ho Park split the work from there through the last three innings to shut the door on the Royals offense. Rodriguez will have three more games at home to hit #600 before the team begins their next road trip in Cleveland July 26th. Find the best New York Yankees ticket deals right here at Ace!
