This Week in Boston (August 6 – 12)

The New England Patriots will have their first official test this Thursday when they battle the New Orleans Saints at Gillette Stadium. The game follows a pair of joint practices between the two teams set up by Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and Saints interim coach Joe Vitt. There has been a lot of buzz at Patriots training camp over the past few days. Fans have been raving about the offense with new additions Brandon Lloyd and Jabar Gaffney in the mix while taking notice to their much improved defensive unit. New England will kick off the regular season against the Tennessee Titans away at LP Field Sunday, September 9th.

Wrapping up their recent four-series against the Minnesota Twins, the Boston Red Sox are set to welcome in the Texas Rangers for three games starting tonight at 7:10 PM. The Rangers currently sit atop the AL West Division with the Oakland A’s and LA Angels trailing by five games. Boston will hit the road for ten games following their series against Texas, scheduled to take on the Cleveland Indians, Baltimore Ravens and New York Yankees.

The Bank of America Pavilion will host the Allman Brothers Band for two shows August 7th and 8th. Original members Gregg Allman (vocals, organ), Butch Trucks (drums) and Jaimoe Johanson (drums, percussion) have been going strong for 43 years now. The rest of the lineup features Warren Hayes (guitar, slide guitar, vocals), Derek Trucks (guitar, slide guitar), Marc Quinones (percussion) and the Oteil Burbridge (bass). The legendary rockers were recently awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. After touring with Santana, the band is ready to rock on all across the U.S.

Nickelodeon television stars and up and coming pop group Big Time Rush will will take center stage at the Comcast Center in Mansfield Sunday, August 12th. Members Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Carlos Pena Jr., and Logan Henderson will be touring in promotion of their second studio project Elevate.
