Patriots, Saints Begin Joint Practices Today

By on August 7, 2012 in

The New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints will hold their first joint practice today at 1:30 p.m. in anticipation of their preseason game this Thursday at Gillette Stadium. Organized by Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and Saints interim coach Joe Vitt, this marks the second time in three years the two teams have held practices together.

Given the fact that both teams rank as Super Bowl contenders, there will be plenty to watch for in these training camp sessions. For players, this is their first chance to face different competition after days of battling teammates.

“We get an opportunity to go against someone else after hitting up on each other for a little while now. It will give us a chance to see some new looks and some different guys out there,” said Patriots cornerback Devin McCourty. “I think they’re probably coming in with the same attitude – a chance to compete and go against different players.”

Tomorrow’s practice is set for 10:00 a.m. and Thursday’s official contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The Saints are coming off a 17-10 victory over the Arizona Cardinals Sunday in the annual Hall of Fame game. Purchase your Patriots vs Saints tickets with us at!
