Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask is eager for the 2012-13 regular season to get underway, as he will be the No. 1 option for the Bruins between the pipes this year. Tim Thomas captured most of the media attention in the offseason due to his decision to put his hockey career on hold. The B’s were able to sign Rask to a one-year deal worth $3.5 million soon after.
“We just figured a one-year deal was best for both of us and then if I have a good year, we can sign a long-term contract,” said Rask. “I’ve proven to myself that I can play in this league at a good level, so there’s no pressure in that way, but this is really more of a challenge to have a good year.”
The 25-year old held an 11-8-0 record with a 2.05 GAA, battling injuries for much of the regular season. Boston drafted Malcolm Subban with the 24th overall pick in the draft to fill the back-up position. Check back for the latest Boston Bruins updates here at Ace!
