Widespread Panic has announced dates for their highly anticipated fall 2010 tour after just wrapping up their summer tour. The Dirty Side Down Summer Tour just closed out a twenty-six date run in late July after the band hit all corners of the US. The tour included a record-breaking, three-night sell-out at Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre (which sold out in 7 minutes), three sold out nights at the Chicago Theater, festival headlining dates, a first ever performance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, taped an appearance on National Public Radio’s World Cafe (airing August 20) and a blistering show at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.
After taking just a month off, Widespread Panic will begin their fall tour on September 17th in Morgantown, WV with stops in Atlanta, Baltimore, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Oakland throughout the two month stint. In anticipation of their fall tour the band also announced that Widespread Panic will be celebrating Halloween and closing out their fall tour with three consecutive nights in New Orleans at the UNO Lakefront Arena. Widespread Panic, a second generation jam band, has over the years risen to the status of such road warriors as the Grateful Dead, Phish and the Allman Brothers, holding records in CO and GA amphitheaters for consecutive sold out shows over the years. Having gained a faithful fan base over the years, Panic plays approximately 250 shows a year and vows to never play the same show twice- typically playing by ear and never repeating set lists.
Following the May release of their 11th studio album Dirty Side Down (2010), a career high Billboard chart debut, Widespread Panic will release the two-disc/three-vinyl set Live In The Classic City II on September 28th, marking the ten-year anniversary of this monumental three-night run that took place in April, 2000 in Athens, Georgia. This show marked the first time Widespread Panic asked their fans, who are regularly permitted to record and circulate live performances, to refrain from recording these particular shows, to raise the anticipation and rareness of the release.
