The Boston Celtics have reportedly just hired Jay Larranaga as an assistant coach. The former head coach of the NBA Developmental League’s Erie Bayhawks led the team to a 60-40 record over the past two seasons. He is the son of University of Miami basketball head coach Jim Larranaga.
Larranaga joins Celtics assistants Armond Hill, Kevin Eastman, Tyronn Lue, Mike Longabardi, and Jamie Young. The 37-year-old is highly recognized for his abilities to develop younger players, which will help Boston’s youthful talent between rookies Jared Sullinger, Kris Joseph and Fab Melo, along with Avery Bradley, Courtney Lee and Jeff Green. More Boston Celtics off-season updates to come.
