The San Diego Chargers have just extended QB and franchise player Philip Rivers contract to 6 more years for $92 million. Rivers is very pleased to remain in San Diego, saying he is “thankful to have many more opportunities to suit up and go out there and be the quarterback for the Chargers and short-term, to be able to just do all I can to lead us to a championship.” The extension was certainly key for the future success of the San Diego organization knowing Rivers was up for free agency after this upcoming season.
Last year Rivers held the second highest QB rating at 111.7 with a 9-1 touchdown-interception ratio. For the past three seasons he has racked up over 10,000 yards in a San Diego uniform. Rivers and the Chargers are set to meet up with the Atlanta Falcons and the San Francisco 49ers before their official regular season opener against the Oakland Raiders on September 14th.
