QB Bradford Edges Pats in Debut Start

St Louis Rams No. 1 overall pick Sam Bradford completed 15 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns in his first NFL start to lead his team past the New England Patriots 36-35 in yesterday’s preseason contest at Gillette Stadium. “He was putting the ball on the money,” said Rams RB Steven Jackson. “You can tell he really knows the offense. I’m really impressed with how far he’s come in a short time.” Both offenses were rolling through all four quarters, posting at least one touchdown in each block.

Patriots QB Tom Brady was able to put together quite the stat line despite the loss, passing for 273 yards and three TD’s from 18 completions. “Coach really challenged us at halftime to come out and play a lot tougher than we were playing, and I thought offensively we did a couple good things,” said Brady. “But in the end, it comes down to losing the game, and no one ever feels good about that around here.” First year TE Rob Gronkowski had a break through game with three receptions for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

The Patriots defense will look to tighten up before their final preseason game against the New York Giants next Thursday. Opening day at Gillette stadium will feature New England welcoming the Cincinnati Bengals to Foxboro Sunday, September 12th.
