Manning, Brady Tune Up at Meadowlands

Eli Manning and Tom Brady each led their respective units downfield for first quarter touchdowns as the New York Giants went on to defeat the New England Patriots 20-17 in yesterday’s week 4 preseason showdown at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. The fourth block also featured a pair of drives between backup QBs Brian Hoyer and Rhett Bomar. Hoyer was first to strike with 4:55 left in regulation when he hit Darnell Jenkins deep for New England to claim the 17-12 advantage. Bomar then connected with Duke Calhoun with under two minutes remaining to solidify the victory for New York.

“It felt great,” said Bomar after completing 11 of 24 passes for 171 yards. “You always want to end the preseason on a good note. It was good to end it like that…I went out there and played and not everything was perfect. But I made some plays and whatever happens, happens.”

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick seems optimistic looking forward despite the recent back-to-back preseason losses. “I think we’re ready to go,” he said. “I think everybody is ready to start the season next week, and we’ll get on it right away. We’re on to Cincinnati.” The Giants will open their regular season campaign against the Carolina Panthers next Sunday as the Patriots play host to the Bengals in Foxboro. New England Patriots tickets are now available!
