With U2’s next album tentatively scheduled for release in early 2009, plans and/or rumors are starting to build about their upcoming 2009 tour. According to the Daily Mirror, U2 will kick off their tour in the U.S. in early 2009 and have several large shows planned for their hometown crowd at Dublin’s Croke Park. It is said that U2 could be performing live for up to 80,000 fans a night with 3-5 shows in the works. Despite the large capacity of Croke Park, the demand for U2 tickets is such that 3-5 shows are expected to easily sell out.Although they are expected to start their tour in the U.S. no details about possible dates or venues have been revealed. Their new album (No Line on the Horizon) will first need a scheduled release date before any firm plans for a U2 tour are made. In the meantime U2 fans can enjoy the upcoming release of the “Live Under a Blood Red Sky” concert DVD.
