The Chicago Bulls and Brian Scalabrine just recently negotiated a non-guaranteed deal for him to reunite with first-year head coach Tom Thibodeau. Despite his lack of numbers during the Celtics 2009-2010 campaign, the nine-year veteran provides plenty of playoff experience. During his time in New Jersey and Boston he made four finals appearances, including the C’s title run in ’08.
Scalabrine was hoping to remain in Boston next season, spending a good amount of time at the Celtics practice facility in Waltham, MA this summer. “I’m just an optimistic guy,” he said. “If I don’t have a job in the league and I gotta go to Europe, I’m optimistic. It’s weird, right, in this league? If I’m not back in Boston I still have my wife, two kids, I’ll still love them, still move on. I’m raising two little girls to become special people. That’s how I look at it.”
The Bulls are currently in the discussion to bring in Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets. Denver previously offered their franchise player a three-year extension worth $65 million. It’s believed that the New York Knicks and New Jersey Nets are among the other top teams in contention to land the 3x All-Star. Chicago Bulls tickets are now available!
