Veteran southpaw Cliff Lee showed he was ready for post-season play yesterday, allowing just one run in seven innings of work to lead his Texas Rangers past the LA Angels 3-2 at Rangers Ball Park. “I got everything where I wanted headed into the postseason,” said Lee after his stellar eight strike-out performance. “I made a little adjustment mechanically and it worked out. Hopefully, I can carry that into the post-season and continue to give the team a chance to win.”
Vladimir Guerrero came up with the clutch hit to bring in Nelson Cruz for the go ahead score in the bottom of the eighth. The 9x All-Star drove in 16 RBI’s in total against his former squad in 2010. “You can see it in his eyes,” said Los Angeles right fielder Torii Hunter. “He’s trying to go deep on every pitch against us.” The Texans are currently one victory away from a 90 win season heading into tonight’s contest in Arlington.
