Patriots fans will see a familiar foe with a new look this coming Sunday when Peyton Manning walks out onto the Gillette Stadium turf as a member of the Denver Broncos. Manning has so far led his team to a 2-2 record after being sidelined through the entire 2011 season due to multiple neck surgeries.
The series of battles between Manning and Patriots quarterback Tom Brady ranks as the most established rivalry in recent NFL history. The Indianapolis Colts are now out of the equation and the rivalry resumes with Denver. The Patriots defense is well aware that they’ll have to be close to perfect when lining up across #18 under center.
“He’s an impact player for whatever team he’s on. I’m not saying that I’m really excited about having to face him again, but you have to play somebody,” said Patriots coach Bill Belichick. “It’s been competitive with Denver and with Peyton, and now those two have kind of combined, so I guess that’s good. But I can’t say this is the quarterback you really want to face.” Manning is 7-12 all-time against New England. Sunday’s game is set for 4:15 PM. Patriots vs Broncos tickets are now available!
