You never would have guessed that the Patriots would be 3-3 after 6 games this season. You also wouldn’t have guessed that 3-3 would be good for a 4 way tie for 1st place in the AFC East. However that is where we stand after Seattle’s impressive 4th quarter comeback against the Patriots. On paper the Patriots’ progress is no better than the Jets’, Bills’ or the Dolphins’. Still it’s no time to panic. Of those division rivals most still expect the Patriots to rise to the top. They’ll need more consistent play to do so and you can be sure that Bill Belichick is aware of that.
The Patriots knew they were up against a great defensive team in Seattle but still New England still managed to build a 23-10 lead by the time the 4th quarter was winding down with Brady throwing for 395 yards and 2 TD’s. It was an unexpected performance by the underdog Seahawks’ QB Russell Wilson that made the difference in the end. Wilson pulled Seattle to within 6 with a 10 yard TD throw to Braylon Edwards. After 2 defensive stops Wilson pulled off a 46 yard TD pass to Sidney Rice with just 1:18 left on the clock.
Tom Brady and the Patriots were unable to make much of the last 1:14 of the game with a series that featured 2 incomplete passes, a sack and short pass to Welker. The Patriots will have to regroup this week as they prepare for a big divisional rivalry as the Jets make their way to New England for their 10/21 matchup at Gillette Stadium.
Patriots tickets for Sunday’s game vs the New York Jets are available as well as tickets to all remaining games.
