There were certainly a handful of thrilling contests this past NFL weekend. The New England Patriots rallied to defeat the top ranked Baltimore Ravens in overtime. The New York Jets took care of business away in Denver, becoming the first team to reach five wins this season. The San Francisco 49ers earned their first W courtesy of QB Alex Smith’s two second half touchdown drives. Ben Roethlisberger threw for three TD’s in his first game back the Pittsburgh Steelers lineup. Bye Week teams included Buffalo, Cincinnati, Arizona and Carolina. Seattle Seahawks 23, Chicago Bears 20 – Jordan Babineaux sparked a safety in the third quarter en route to his Seahawks road win at Soldier Field.
Miami Dolphins 23, Green Bay Packers 20 – Dan Carpenter kicked in a 44 yard field goal for the Dolphins to claim victory in OT.
St Louis Rams 20, San Diego Chargers 17 – The Chargers scored with three minutes left in regulation but failed to stage a full comeback from there.
New England Patriots 23, Baltimore Ravens 20 – Deion Branch caught nine passes for 98 yards and one touchdown in his return to New England.
New York Giants 28, Detroit Lions 20 – Brandon Jacobs punched in a pair of touchdowns for the Giants to shake off the Lions at the Meadowlands.
Philadelphia Eagles 31, Atlanta Falcons 17 – Kevin Kolb completed 23-of-29 for 326 yards and three TD’s.
Pittsburgh Steelers 28, Cleveland Browns 10 – Ben Roethlisberger threw for 257 yards and three TD’s from 16 passes completed.
New Orleans Saints 31, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 6 – The Saints scored in every quarter to coast by the Bucs.
Houston Texans 35, Kansas City Chiefs 31 – The Texans scored 21 fourth quarter points to edge Kansas City by 4.
New York Jets 24, Denver Broncos 20 – LaDainian Tomlinson scored his second touchdown from 2 yards out with 73 seconds left after a 46-yard pass interference flag on fourth down to gift wrap the W for New York.
San Francisco 49ers 17, Oakland Raiders 9 – Alex Smith fueled his teams comeback, throwing for 196 yards and two TD’s from 16 passes completed.
Minnesota Vikings 24, Dallas Cowboys 21 – The Vikings scored 14 third quarter points in a gut check situation to earn their second win of the season.
Indianapolis Colts 27, Washington Redskins 24 – Indianapolis fumbled the ball three times but managed to come out of top due to Adam Vinatieri’s 33 yard FG with eight minutes left in the fourth block.
