Pats Face Broncos in Monday Night Matchup

By on October 20, 2008 in ,

The 3-2 New England Patriots and the 4-2 Denver Broncos will face off on Monday night at Gillette Stadium. Both teams are 2-2 in their conferences, and are looking to bounce back from tough losses last week. Matt Cassel couldn’t find the end zone in week 7, completing 22 of 38 with one pick while being sacked four times.  Sammy Morris had the lone New England TD, as well as 26 yards on the ground.

Denver’s Jay Cutler has been consistent, throwing at least one TD in each game for the Bronco’s so far. Week 7 was tough for him as well; despite throwing two TDs, he had less than 200 yards through the air for the first time the season – and threw a costly pick. One of his two TD targets, Brandon Stokley, suffered a concussion and may not be suiting up on Monday night.

Denver and New England are also each working through running-back injuries. Pats RB Laurence Maroney sat out yet another game this season, his third of the year. Denver has been without rookie back Ryan Torain (broken left elbow) all season so far, and had to deactivate Selvin Young (groin injury) last week.

Both teams have something to prove – tonight’s game should be quite the matchup.
