Ray Allen produced all 14 of his points in the third quarter to boost the Boston Celtics past the New Jersey Nets 107-92 in their final preseason game last night at the TD Garden. Allen’s contributions sparked a comeback as part of Boston’s 36-16 run in the block to give the starters a chance to rest easy in the remaining minutes. Paul Pierce led in scoring with 17. Allen, Glen Davis and Kevin Garnett followed up with 14 apiece. Rajon Rondo hit his targets during his 31 minutes on the floor, dishing out 12 assists with a side of eight points and five rebounds.

Celtics head coach Doc Rivers rested his voice from the locker room after a throat biopsy test which came back negative. In light of his absence, Lawrence Frank was then given the opportunity to run the show against his former team that fired him back in November. “Let’s face it: We’ve got a very, very talented group,” he said. “We decided to turn it around.”

Shaquille O’Neal will likely get the nod to start at center while Jermaine O’Neal recovers from hamstring and hand injuries. “I think we feel like we’ve got a legitimate shot [to win a title],” echoed Shaq after the win. “Paul wants one more…I want one more. We’ve got the same motivation.” The highly anticipated Celtics vs Heat matchup is set for Tuesday, October 26th. Check here for regular season Boston Celtics tickets!
