Patriots Crush Broncos 41-7

The New England Patriots looked like last year’s team on Monday night. Matt Cassel was a Brady-like 18-24 with three touchdowns and no picks for a 136.3 passer rating. Despite being sacked six times, Cassel helped lead the Pats offense to 404 total yards. Randy Moss reeled in two touchdown passes, and Wes Welker caught one. Sammy Morris ran for 139 yards and a TD before leaving with a knee injury. Rookie BenJarvus Green-Ellis filled in for Morris, rushing for 65 yards and a score.

Broncos QB Jay Cutler hurt himself on the first play of the game, hitting his hand on Vince Wilfork’s helmet. Cutler stayed in the game, but did not seem to fall into a rhythm. He hit former Patriot tight end Ben Graham for a touchdown in the fourth quarter after leaving for the end of the 2nd quarter.  Brothers Boss and Champ Bailey both left with injuries in the first half, Boss with a knee injury and champ with a groin injury.

While the win was encouraging for the Pats, they will be without another team captain. Safety Rodney Harrison suffered a serious knee injury, and it seems as if his season – if not career, is over. The Pats will announce his status either today, or on tomorrow’s injury report.

The 4-2 Pats will host the suddenly successful 2-4 Rams next weekend at Gillette Stadium. Great Patriots Tickets are still available for every game this season.
