The House of Blues in Boston is scheduled to welcome back the Mighty Mighty Bosstones for their 13th annual Hometown Throwdown from Sunday, December 26th to Tuesday, December 28th. The Cambridge, MA natives have been touring to further promote their eighth studio album Pin Points and Gin Joints. The album was released in December of 2009, marking their first full studio project since 2002’s A Jackknife To A Swan. The band stated on their official website that “this year’s shows promise to our biggest and best yet with plenty of surprises in store.”

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones are credited to have created the ska-core genre that mixes third wave ska and hardcore punk. Their breakthrough 1997 album Let’s Face It features singles “The Impression That I Get,” “Royal Oil” and “The Rascal King.” In total the band has released seven studio albums, three EPS and one live album. The Bosstones eventually announced a hiatus in 2003 after twenty years of playing together. They reunited in the fall of 2007 at Boston’s Middle East club and have been going strong ever since. Don’t miss the Mighty Mighty Bosstones annual Hometown Throwdown at the Boston House of Blues!
