The Boston Celtics just barely beat the Washington Wizards Wednesday night in a 100-94 overtime win. Bass scored five straight points in overtime, helping the Celtics win their second game of the season.
“Well, we won the game,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers commented. “Right now that’s the type of team we are. We’re not playing great.”
Paul Pierce agreed, “We know we have guys that are capable, it’s just getting it together still.”
Bass finished with 11 points, Jason terry had 16, and Rajon Rondo had 18 points and 14 assists. Kevin Garnett led the Celtics with 20 points and 13 rebounds.
“Overall it’s all about the win,” Rondo said. “That’s what we did.”
Boston had just beat the Wizards in a close game finishing at 89-86 in Washington last Saturday night. Their win Wednesday was nearly as close but went into overtime. In overtime, Bass hit a tiebreaking free throw and made the score 93-92. He then scored a twisting layup and also a breakaway dunk with just 37.7 seconds left to help seal the deal. The Wizards only shot 3 of 10 in overtime.
The Celtics (2-2) have so far only won to the Wizards. They will face off Friday night at TD Garden against the Philadelphia 76ers. You can get your tickets here with Ace.
