Jay-Z and Coldplay will match up again this New Year’s Eve for a joint performance on December 31 at the Barclays Center. This will be the second time in two years that Coldplay has rang in the New Year with collaborator and long-time friend Jay-Z.
Last year they performed at a Las Vegas concert and more recently, Jay-Z and Coldplay performed together at the London 2012 Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony. Jay-Z has had a number of shows at the Barclays this fall and Coldplay has two confirmed dates there.
Jay-Z has a close relationship with the venue. He is a minority owner in the Brooklyn Nets and is also the director of Brooklyn Arena LLC, which is the company that owns Barclays. Jay-Z says his shows there are part of a celebration. He said, “It’s pretty much a celebration of having a team in Brooklyn- you know, again, everybody knows we hadn’t had a team since the Dodgers, so it’s a really happy time in Brooklyn.”
