Derrick Rose scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to lead his Chicago Bulls past the Houston Rockets 95-92 yesterday at the Toyota Center. Chicago’s premier PG was benched in the third because of foul trouble before checking back in to hit two three-pointers as part of the teams 18-0 run. “Whatever it takes for my team to win, I’m going to try to go out there and do it,” said Rose. “It was so frustrating. I knew I had to sit out, but I was just hoping we could keep it close. That’s when they put me back in the game, and I guess I did what I was supposed to do.”
Rose added seven rebounds and three steals to his game-high 33 points. Kyle Korver and Ronnie Brewer came off the bench for a collective 21 points. Luol Deng contributed 16 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks. Luis Scola led the Rockets with 27 points and former Bull Brad Miller scored 21. Houston has lost in their last four meetings with Chicago after winning 11 of the previous 12.
The Bulls are next scheduled for a six-game road trip starting tonight in San Antonio. They will then travel to Dallas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver and Sacramento before hosting the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, December 1st. The Boston Celtics will welcome them to the TD Garden on Friday, December 3rd.
